Grand Prix: New Blue Bottle Joint

Big ups to Kirk Harper AKA The Selecter DJ Kirk, who is also in Sweaterfunk. He is the un-official mayor of San Francisco in my opinion, and a major inspiration in my life. Such class and such style...he could rock a country set and still blow people away. The next time you're downtown, check out his spot (the same space as the club Azul). Read about his latest venture below:

Grand Prix, brewing Blue Bottle Coffee, opens February 1st, 2011 at 7:30am.
After sixteen years of running the successful nightclub 330 Ritch St. Kirk Harper, aka The Selecter DJ Kirk, and his long time friend and business partner John Quintos  set their sights on the world of local, microroasted coffee. They partnered with James Freeman’s Blue Bottle Coffee Company and opened a series of coffee kiosks named after iconic Italian Lambretta motor scooters: Cento at 360 Ritch St., Vega at 1246 Folsom and Special Xtra at 46 Minna St.
The newest addition, Grand Prix, is located in SF’s Union Square at 1 Tillman Place.
Hours of operation will be 7:30am-4pm on weekdays and 9am-3pm on weekends.
Grand Prix baristas will prepare the full line of Blue Bottle drinks including a special beverage, “The Macau Iced Coffee”. Also offered will be house baked croissants, mini cupcakes, cookies and fresh roasted Blue Bottle beans for home brewing.
The name Grand Prix holds special significance for Harper who owns a highly collectible 1969 Lambretta Grand Prix 150 model. His family also played a role in establishing the Macau Grand Prix in 1954. Quintos has a connection to the world of motorsports as well in the form of a long career rebuilding and racing vintage scooters.
Grand Prix looks forward to serving people who live and work in the neighborhood as well as visitors and weekend shoppers.

State of The Arts: Trackademicks

Taken at Sweaterfunk 1 yr. Anniversary
Congrats to Jason AKA Trackademicks...I've been loving his music since his "Tell Me When To Go" remix. I would use my fake ID to see him perform with J.Davey back in the day. His production is so fresh and I am so proud of him. His crew Honor Roll is putting in so much work these days, its an honor to know them. Buy his new album State of The Arts here

SFNY

This is a little late, but my one of my top 5 favorite memories of 2010 was SFNY. Playing at The Rivington Hotel with an amazing lineup, topped off with an incredible view of the Manhattan skyline left me with an emotional hangover the next day
